Recipe of Christmas Mulled Red Wine
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml)
- 1 orange, sliced
- ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
- 8-10 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 1 star anise
- a pinch of nutmeg
- orange zest for garnish
- optional: brandy for an extra kick
Instructions:
- Place your SENSARTE Ceramic Nonstick Sauce Pan on low to medium heat.
- Pour the entire bottle of red wine into the sauce pan. Opt for a robust red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for rich flavors.
- Slice the orange. If using a vanilla bean, split it open to expose the seeds.
- Add the sliced orange, cloves, cinnamon sticks, vanilla bean (or extract), star anise, and a pinch of nutmeg. Drizzle honey or maple syrup into the mixture.
- Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for at least 15-20 minutes. This slow infusion ensures that the spices marry with the wine, creating a harmonious flavor profile.
- If you desire an extra kick, add brandy to the pan. Stir gently to incorporate the flavors. Be cautious not to overheat, as boiling can alter the taste.
- Once the mulled wine is infused to perfection, remove it from heat. Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and fruit slices.
- Pour the mulled red wine into mugs or heatproof glasses. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a twist of orange zest for a burst of citrus freshness. If you're feeling festive, add a few fresh cranberries for a pop of color.
- Sip, savor, and enjoy the comforting warmth of your homemade Christmas Mulled Red Wine.
