Recipe of Homemade Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes
- 2 tsps sea salt
- 2 tbsps whole milk
- 2 tbsps unsalted butter
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsps oyster sauce
- 2 tbsps cornstarch
- ½ cup water
Instructions:
- Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly to ensure even cooking.
- Place the sliced potatoes in your SENSARTE Ceramic Nonstick Sauce Pan.
- Add enough water to cover the potatoes and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Cook the potatoes until they are tender, about 10-12 minutes. You can test this by piercing them with a fork.
- Once the potatoes are tender, drain the water and transfer the potatoes to a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl.
- Then add in 2 tsps sea salt, 2 tbsps whole milk, and 1 tbsp unsalted butter.
- Using a stand mixer or potato masher, beat the potatoes until they are light, fluffy, and creamy. Adjust the seasoning with more salt if needed.
- Line a bowl with plastic wrap, then transfer the mashed potatoes into the bowl.
- Invert the bowl onto a serving plate, and gently remove the plastic wrap to reveal a neat mound of mashed potatoes.
- Allow the mashed potatoes to rest while you prepare the gravy.
- In the same SENSARTE Ceramic Nonstick Sauce Pan, melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter over low heat.
- Add in ½ tsp black pepper and 2 tbsps oyster sauce for a rich flavor.
- In a separate cup, mix 2 tbsps cornstarch with ½ cup water until smooth.
- Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the pan, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook the gravy over low heat for about 5-7 minutes, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- Pour the prepared gravy over the mashed potatoes, or serve it on the side.
- Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives if desired. Serve the mashed potatoes warm as a side dish or a comforting main course. Enjoy!
